Children’s Ministry

What is Children’s Ministry? Children’s Ministry is more than just Sunday School. The United Methodist Church’s primary task is to make faithful disciples of Jesus Christ, this includes children. A majority of Christians develop their relationship with Jesus as children. Raising children in the Christian faith is a vital ministry in the church and it also provides an outreach to the children of the community. Therefore, building and growing a children’s ministry invigorates the church’s whole ministry.

Children’s Ministry is any ministry involving infants through 5th or 6th grade. Of course Sunday School is a part of children’s ministry but it is only one segment of what children’s ministry encompasses.

Children’s Ministry is also: Vacation Bible School, children in worship, Children’s Church, after school programs, missions for kids, summer camp programs, age specific ministries (nursery, preschool, elementary, preteen), special events, seasonal events, programs for children with special needs, music, drama, games, crafts, and of course fellowship. Wow what fun!
